have u tried to reinstall latest winpcap? or go back to winpcap 2.3. I think
this is a winpcap issue in the past.
there is a packet.dll variant with some advanced debugging features,
download the proper version to your system at
http://winpcap.polito.it/contact.htm

can you post the OS version, winpcap and ethereal release?
