I don't like that approach. Usually when exporting, I want to have a 
specific file format, and then select the things that should be exported.

Or having a general selection and then select the file format (but 
that's not a good way, as "our" different file formats have different 
levels of detail selection).

In none of these cases, I would like to have the two menu items you 
described (beside the fact, that the names are much too long for 
toplevel menu items).

I'm currently unsure about that.

I tend to remove the "print to file" option from the printing dialog 
completely.
