I just want to make sure that Wireshark is what we need. Am I correct in seeing that it IS Ethereal only under a different name?

The short answer is "yes".

The longer answer, with, for example, details on why the name changed, is in the Wireshark FAQ; see entries 1.1 and 1.2:

	http://www.wireshark.org/faq.html#q1.1

	http://www.wireshark.org/faq.html#q1.2

I ran the RPM and it wouldn't install....

What errors did it report?
