Secondary patch to resolve issues in the primary patch
Fix fuzz failures caused by calls to proto_tree_add_bitmask_len() with
a length > 4.
Also harmonizes little- and big-endian handling.
In both cases it is assumed that as protocols evolve over time,
bitmasks "grow" towards the most-significant bits.
