Fix for broken window layouts
Looking at the patch, I see that it includes all the ws_gtk_grid...() stuff I
did recently.
So: it seems that maybe the pacth was generated by diff'ing trunk/ui/gtk vs 1.8
trunk/ui/gtk and is intended to update 1.8. Is this the case ?
The changes make for GTK3 in trunk (including things like replacing the use of
gtk_table...) with ws_gtk_grid...() are considered new development (i.e.
porting Wireshark to Gtk3).
New development won't be backported to 1.8.
As Anders noted, a completed GTK3 porting effort was not part of 1.8 and thus
Wireshark 1.8 does not work properly with GTK3 (as you note).
Perhaps there should be an explicit statement someplace that Wireshark 1.8 does
not support GTK3 so we could have saved you the effort.
