You can only install it directly if you can actually compile it on the system
you intend to install it on.  For systems where this is not possible to do,
then I would say this is more than just a "normal" problem; it's actually a
complete show-stopper.

What exactly is your opposition to the first patch?  If the
packaging/macosx/Info.plist.in isn't copied over, the "make rpm-package" fails,
plain and simple.

You may want things installed in /usr, but if you don't specify a prefix, isn't
the default location actually /usr/local?  The patch simply attempts to
synchronize the wireshark.spec.in file with the default prefix.

I'm no RPM expert, so I'm not sure what you mean by "proper macronames".  I
merely tried to modify the existing paths to match the defaults.  If you have a
better way to correct this than what I've submitted, then I certainly don't
mind having my patch discarded in favor of a better one.
