Wireshark · Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] install problems on Solaris 2.6

Folks:

Can anyone there assist us with depot problems.

I have successfully installed pkgutils, and I can execute pkg-inst, but it can
never find the depot file, even I execute it in the top ethereal directory with
the depot-db.xml and pkg-db.xml files in the directory. These are the default
files, however, I think I need to edit them. Can anyone advise.

I have the following files in a directory off of root:

/ethereal/ depot-db.xml       46 bytes
                    depot-db.xml.org      342 bytes
                    pkg-db.xml            629791 bytes
                     pkg-db.xml.org 629791 bytes

under the /ethereal directory, I have all the packages in individual
directories:

/ethereal/ethereal
                  /glib-1.2.10
                 /gtk+-1.2.10
                 /ucd-snmp-4.2.1
                 /zlib-1.1.3

In each of the above directories, I have unzipped and untarred the files.


Please let me know if anyone their can help us or can point us to a
sophisticated solaris user who can.

We are eager to use ethereal for several packet scanning and capture projects,
but we are currently stuck on the install!!
