My first suggestion is that you read

as this sounds like a *very* common problem people have when trying to
sniff traffic (whether with Ethereal or any other sniffer program or
device), i.e. you're probably sniffing on a switched network, or on a
dual-speed hub, in which case you won't see all traffic on the network.
