Wireshark · Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] I can't see "ping packets" going across the wire

I am new to ethereal, but I have figured out how to get it installed and
working.
I am capturing data from my net work., When I set up a test station an do a
constant
ping to a device on the network, the capture does not show any ping requests or
replies
(unless I ping from the same computer that is also the Ethereal sniffer)
Any suggestions?
