Since I currently do not have a Windows platform to compile
on (although Ulf's recent developer's guide may soon change
this), would it possible to make a new Windows distribution
of Ethereal incorporating Ulf's latest fixes (and I assume
the latest (stable) GTK+ 2.x) available?

FWIW: I reported a somewhat similar and I suspect related
GTK problem back on 2004/08/18:
> Subject: Ethereal v0.10.6 WinXP - Gtk-ERROR **: File
gtkfilechooserdefault.c line 1558

When I reported my original problem I was running
the V0.10.6 Windows version of Ethereal distribution
installed on an a pair of pretty generic Windows XP
SP1, build 2600 systems.

The "About Ethereal" dialog reports Ethereal as:
  Version 0.10.6
  GTK+ 2.4.4
  Glib 2.4.5
  WinPcap (version unknown)
  libz 1.2.1
  libprce 4.4
  Net-SNMP 5.1

Thanks,
