No, that won't be fixed by my upcoming patches :-/ They intended to
enable libethereal to be built as a shared library.
But as to your problems: Which versions of automake, autoconf and
libtool do you use?

I'm somewhat astonished: I increased the required version of automake
in autogen.sh in order to require a version of automake new enough to
be able to handle .. in file names :-(
Can you please send the versions of the programs mentioned above and
the complete output of ./autogen.sh?
