• How do I register for the Official WCA exam?

  The Official WCA Exam is offered via our trusted exam partner, Kryterion. Kryterion uses the Webassessor system, which allows candidates to schedule and complete proctored exams in a secured environment.

  The Webassessor system, from Kryterion, is independent from the Wireshark Foundation and its partners.

• Where can I take the Official WCA exam?

  You may take the exam in one of two ways:
  
  At a Kryterion Testing Center — available at over 1,000 locations worldwide, or
  
  Online — using a secure browser on your own workstation under remote human proctoring via the Webassessor system.
  
  You'll select your preferred option (onsite or online) during registration. If you choose an onsite exam, you'll be prompted to select a testing center near you.

• What are the system requirements for the online proctored exam?

  You'll need an up-to-date Windows or MacOS system with administrative privileges to install the secure browser.
  
  You can verify system compatibility and download the browser free of charge before your exam.

• Is the exam proctored?

  Yes.
  
  All WCA exams are human-proctored—both at Kryterion Testing Centers and during online sessions.

  A practice exam is available through the same Webassessor portal where you register for the official exam.

• How long is the certification valid?

  The Official WCA certification is valid for three (3) years from the date you pass the exam.

• How do I renew?

  To renew, you must retake the Official Wireshark Certified Analyst exam.

• What type of questions should I expect on the exam?

  Question types include multiple choice, matching, and fill-in-the-blank. The exam typically has 50-60 questions, with a duration of 120 minutes.

• What resources can I use during the exam?

  You may use a pen or pencil and blank paper for note-taking during the exam.
  
  All other resources are strictly prohibited. This includes books, notes, digital devices, software tools, or internet access of any kind.
  
  Any attempt to access unauthorized materials or external resources will result in immediate termination of the exam and may lead to a permanent ban from future certification attempts.
