Wireshark-dev: [Wireshark-dev] Is it possible to add protocols to WireShark

I have an application that uses a custom protocol. It is very similar to one already handled by WireShark, but different enough that WireShark can not recognize it.

Is it possible for me to add a new protocol to WireShark, possibly by copying the similar existing one and making the required changes?
