I'd like to release Wireshark 0.99.8 in a couple of weeks, followed by a 1.0 on March 31 at Sharkfest. The tentative release dates are:

  Feb 18 - 0.99.8 pre1
  Feb 25 - 0.99.8 final
  Mar 17 - 1.0 pre1
  Mar 31 - 1.0 final

The schedule above reflects a slight change to the versioning scheme. From now on, even minor numbers will be used for final releases, and odd numbers will be used for development releases. That is, when the 0.99.8 brach is created on February 18, the version in the trunk will be changed to 0.99.9. On March 17, a branch will be created for 1.0.0, and the trunk will be changed to 1.0.1.
