I *think*, based on the format of the output, that this was intentional with
r51227? I can't tell from your copy-paste, but I suspect the "frame numbers"
are actually packet counts on stderr, which is useful as status indicators when
capturing to a file (but less useful when we have regular stdout).

Could be wildly off-base here though.
