If it is a GTK bug as you suspect (and it sounds like it is) then there
probably isn't much we can do on our end.

Do you have anything else to try, or should I close this as NOTOURBUG? Filing a
bug against GTK might get you somewhere, since we'll generally pick up new GTK
point releases when they're available...
