Updated patch that addresses Linux warnings

Sorry for the inconvenience. This patch should eliminate all of the 63 warnings
that were logged by the buildbot. As I don't have an available Linux build
environment for testing, please try compiling it on Linux before check-in.

I tried changing the cl option from W3 to W4 but it logged 100 warnings most of
which were "warning C4127: conditional expression is constant". Assuming that
W4 would more closely match the warnings logged by Linux, is there any way to
eliminate these errors?
