Thanks for following up. Unfortunately, I can no longer replicate this
problem; the rpcap daemon is terminating the connection when wireshark attempts
to retrieve the list of interfaces.
I even tried running rpcapd on a debian box with fewer interfaces (3 instead of
52). Same problem- wireshark can't retrieve the list of interfaces. This
problem appears to be an rpcapd problem
