Well, yes & no.  For many changes, especially small or simple changes, it's not
really necessary to have the long diff, but I find that sometimes it does help
to see more of the surrounding context, particularly when examining more
complicated changes.

But ideally one could select which way it is displayed via the drop-down
selection.  Is that not possible?  I am accustomed to seeing all of the
following choices, with Colored Diff being the default:

Colored Diff
Long Colored Diff
Full Colored Diff
Unidiff
Context Diff
Side by Side
