I am using VC++ 6.0 which is not one of the express editions. 

I have downloaded and executed the vcredist_x86.exe for the VC++ 2005 SP1 and
the VC++ 2008 with no change in the process. Does this executable need to be in
a specific location. Since I am using 6.0, I didn't think this would be
necessary, but maybe I do?
