I believe this problem does still exist, I noticed it again recently.  I'll
check again on Monday (it happens on the svn build on my work machine).

At the time I did try reording and commenting out some of the relevant gtk
calls to make it more similar to other cases where the colour highlighting was
working, but never did get to the bottom of it (I don't build gtk from source
so haven't dug below the API).

Its a minor annoyance that I haven't seen anyone else complain about.  I'll see
if I can update my version gtk/glib and if that helps.
