Thank you so much for the note: I immediately tried with linux version in my
laptop installed in another partition but got some unexpected crash issue...

I use one laptop with Linux RedHat 7.2, Ethereal 0.9.7 including base,
gnome, gtk+ and usermode, connected to my home network with rj45 network
card. Another laptop with Win98 and Linksys wlan card.

The following is my steps when testing:
- start Ethereal in Redhat 7.2 laptop
- set filter with my wlan ap ether host
- start the laptop with win98
- plugin the wlan card
- ethereal in Redhat 7.2 laptop crashed with the message in the terminal:
ethereal: error while loading shared libraries: ethereal: undefined symbol:
sprint_realloc_objid

Then I tried tcpdump in my Redhat laptop and found the message when I plugin
wlan card with the other win98 laptop:
15:52:10.442586 192.168.1.200.snmptrap > 255.255.255.255.snmptrap: Trap(39)
E:410.1.1 192.168.1.200 enterpriseSpecific[specific-trap(3)!=0] 9342600
.iso.org.dod.internet.private=[|snmp]

(192.168.1.200 is my wlan ap ip address)

I believe my ethereal crashed each time it caught the above message...

My libpcap with redhat 7.2 is 0.6.2-9.

Please do let me know if you know what is the problem... Thanks again for
your help.

Chuan Yin

packet between my pc card and the router but not packets between the wap and
my pc card.

the access point with its ip or run a snmp program with the access point. I
thought I should be able to catch all the mackets that were transmitted
from/to the wireless access point and my wireless pc card.
