Wireshark · Ethereal-dev: [Ethereal-dev] Does mergecap work with named pipes ?

I would like to multiplex real time captures coming from different 
remote captures.

So I thought I could bring those captures in different named pipes, and 
then do
someting like :

   mergecap pipe1 pipe2 -w - | ethereal ....

I get

mergecap: skipping pipe1: Illegal seek

So I guess it would need modification.

Would it work just by modifying mergecap ?
