The chair of the SNIA committee happens to work where I work, at the
University of Minnesota.  I know him, and I now know several Ethereal
developers, so I think it makes sense that I try to act as a go between.

It would be great to see the SNIA collaborating with Ethereal on setting
their standard for packet captures.
