I suppose that's possible.  If you change other preferences, are those saved? 
Maybe it's writing preferences to a different location?  Are you using a
different profile?

You're welcome.  Another likely work-around, which might just resolve the
problem permanently, is to start from scratch again by removing all your
preference files and letting Wireshark create default files.  You'll have to
adjust your preferences again, but I'm pretty sure this will take care of this
problem.

But if you do decide to do that (remove your current preferences), you might
want to save them elsewhere, just in case.  And if you want, you could post
your preference files to this bug report, and maybe someone will be able to
figure out what might be the problem with them.
