Yeah, that's how I found -lpfring mentioned. Google found some ntop-misc posts all reporting problems with *other* programs' (tcpdump, snort, etc.) configure scripts failing to work with the pfring libpcap due to that libpcap requiring -lpfring.

I'll look at making Ethereal and tcpdump's configure scripts check whether -lpfring is required - both of them should already have stuff to check for libraries that might be needed on AIX. (I'm not a snort developer, so they'll have to do that themeselves.)
