Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] RTP Packet decoding, saving as AU desynchronized with silence g

Is anyone here familiar with decoding and listening to RTP packets in ethereal? During silence on the call the RTP packets stop (I believe this is called voice activity detector or VAD) and when ethereal stitches the call and creates a audio file it does not fill in the gaps with silent audio so the call gets desynchronized and the in/out streams start overlapping and play out of order.

I’m capturing traffic from Cisco IP Communicator.

VAD is only enabled on the incoming stream not the outgoing stream, so it gets especially desynchronized.

Thanks,

Eric Jaakkola

p.s. Why doesn’t the analyze VOIP calls find any voip calls in my packet capture?  (Even after I mark the UDP packets RTP packets)
