Hi,

What would be the capture buffer size for any realtime, 1GB rate packet processing kernel? The input buffer size would depend on many factors, particularly, of the kernel (packet processing time, reading/writing into buffers and queues, buffer management system etc).

I’ve seen some having about 4MB /8 MB and some commercial products using 128 MB! I am not sure about the criterions being used. Could someone list out some key criteria to derive at a good approximation of packet input buffer (for 1 GB rate realtime product).

Thanks,

S.Srivathsan
