Hi,

I would like to know how Ethereal manages buffer overflow. I understand the capture driver stores the packets in a ring buffer so that the old packets are discarded. Also, this buffer properties (like size, rotating capture file etc) are user configurable.

I would like if there are any kind of adaptive mechanism to self-regulate the buffer size to avoid packet loss. If so, what kind of mechanisms are out there and what does Ethereal use?

Thanks much,

S.Srivathsan
