If you want to add a "range" preference type, and have time, go ahead. Use the routines in "epan/range.c" to implement it.

Fortunately, I did (have enough time): see the attached patch which implements the new preference type and changes the TCAP dissector to use it.

Please review and consider for inclusion.

(Note that after today I'll be away from my email for about a week so I won't be able to respond to any questions or comments during that time.)
