I did some more trials with the Save As problem

- Used pre-built 0.10.6 Solaris binaries from ethereal.com instead of the binaries I built

         gtk+-1.2.10-sol9-sparc-local
         glib-1.2.10-sol9-sparc-local

    ethereal 0.10.6 tarball.
Compiled with GTK+ 1.2.10, with GLib 1.2.10, with libpcap 0.6, with libz 1.1.4,
without libpcre, without UCD-SNMP or Net-SNMP, without ADNS.
NOTE: this build does not support the "matches" operator for Ethereal filter syntax.

For each trial, open a capture file, select Save As, provide a file name, and click Save.

All trials result in this type of error message.
Gdk-ERROR **: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)

It seems strange that it the problem happens so consistenly for me. Could there be an interaction with the X server? I've used two different X-servers, but could try others.

In the meantime, I tried to transfer the sources to my SuSE box, but failed to transfer data from an USB stick or USB harddisk to it :-( Very nice SuSE feature, some weeks ago, it was still working...

As I currently don't have other access to a unx/linux box, I can't reproduce the problem, which makes it very hard to find a solution :-(

To be honest, unfortunately this seems to be a problem in the GTK 1.2 libs,
