When running ethereal 0.10.6 pre-release I get lots of the following messages 
(on W2K as well as on XP) :

(ethereal.exe:3272): Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtktextiter.c: line 3641
(gtk_text_iter_set_line_offset): assertion `char_on_line <= chars_in_line' failed

They occur when the mouse is in the lowest part of the screen (the hex byte
contents part), when the mouse moves over empty lines.
I re-installed 0.10.5, it does not occur in that version.
