That problem has been reported before Joerg's changes were checked in.

It looks as if, for some reason, the Net-SNMP library might use stuff
from the ELF file access library on some systems, including RH 9.0.  Try
configuring without Net-SNMP, and see if that fixes the problem; if so,
perhaps somebody can explain why we have to link with "-lelf" on those
platforms if we're linking with the SNMP library.
