Do you have a firewall (ZoneAlarm) installed?

I see ethereal hanging, when ZoneAlarm is active, since ADNS support was
added.
Stopping ZoneAlarm brings even a hanging ethereal back to life.

An Ethereal without ADNS has no problems.
