Or, rather, printable-but-not-ASCII characters.  "ï¿½" is a printable
character in many locales (although what it prints *as* depends on the
locale - in ISO 8859/1, and possibly other ISO 8859/x character sets,
it's the UK pound symbol), but it's not ASCII.
