Yes, we do check for empty title when reading the preference file, and
if we encounter this we mark the column preferences as invalid and use
the default columns. I don't know if empty titles can be a problem
for other functionality, or if we want to support this, but it seems
like it's possible to configure this both in the columns preferences
and "Edit Column Details".
I'll have a look at this.
