Chris, here are the answers to your questions

1. Desktop is connnected to linksys wire ethernet cable. Laptop can connect both wirelessly through D-Link router or ethernet cable to Linksys (in either case ping from laptop to the desktop doesn't work).

2. I disabled DHCP on Linksys. All machines have static ips (including Vonage device). Also, with DHCP it was the same story.

3. Both PCs access internet.

4. The reason I posted on Wireshark mailing list is because I installed the Wireshark sniffer and tested ping from laptop to desktop in hope to get better idea what software (or any other issue) is blocking ICMP packets. See my original post. So I aked question how can determine what application is blocking ICMP with Wireshark.

Regarding your solution. I need Symantec AV to be installed... I'm fine with reinstalling comodo since it's free.
