Wireshark-users: [Wireshark-users] IRC Protocol dissector in wireshark

Hello,

I have been using Wireshark to filter out IRC traffic. I notice that Wireshark corretly filters out IRC traffic even when there are messages where there are no IRC commands.

From a development standpoint, how does Wireshark filter out IRC traffic? Are there are a predefined set of strings that it uses? If so where can I find this set. Also, where can I look for the IRC protocol filter in the Wireshark code?

Thanks a bunch!
Padmini
