Wireshark-users: [Wireshark-users] Wireshark Bug 3046

From: Chris Barlow <cbarlow@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
Date: Wed, 10 Dec 2008 10:11:23 -0500

Hello,

I thought I would let you know that I can repeat this bug consistently using a server with the following:

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2

Standard Edition

Service Pack 2

Intel® Xeon ® CPU

3060 @3.40GHz, 2.39GHz

2.00 GB of RAM

The application is being run under the Administrator account, though it is being run via a VNC-based remote session client (proprietary).  The bug does not appear to impact functionality, it just becomes cumbersome to navigate the server with 18 copies of the closing file dialog open.

I am using the following settings for the capture:

Device: Intel ® PRO/1000 PM Network Connection (Ethernet)

Use Multiple Files option: ON

New file every 5 MB

Ring buffer size: 2000

It should be noted that when I tried this with a file size of 200 KB the problem did not occur…  I cannot check to see if that is a constant or not right this second because I am in the middle of troubleshooting a customer server via packet capture – but I’ll get back to you on that.

Any help you could give would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris Barlow
