Thanks a lotfor the valuable advise.
Now its showing the interfaces in the drop down list.
I have to use it as a root. Before I was directly trying to run by double clicking on the Wireshark in my Applications folder.

Have you tried to run it as root (i.e. $sudo wireshark)?
