Did you run X11.app ?

I have X11, in utilities

well launch it and type /usr/local/bin/wireshark in it

Do I need the bpf stuff? I saw the "Utilities" folder in the install package
but wasn't sure I needed to figure that plist out for Leopard

bpf is the wiretapping device which exists under MacOS X. Its always there. Its just a question if a normal user can read from it. By default only root can do that. My installer puts a startup script which fixes the permissions for that.

X1`1 is X11.app 2.0 - X.org X11R7.2

Wireshark does not start it though.
When I do start X11, I two icons in Dock ... one seems to bounce forever.

When I then try Wireshark, I see this, in console

./sync_osx_look.sh: line 40: gtkrc: Permission denied

ehm waht are you launching here?? now its org.wireshark.Wireshark, Before it was com.finkconsulting.wireshark. Thats the one I did.
