Hi,

Are you referring to RFC 2508 or RFC 3095 compression?
Still, neither are supported in Wireshark as far as I know.

What do you mean by resolving the payload? The only thing you can do is decompress the header and see if the payload size fits the expected size for the codec given. And even that is a poor guess.

Is not necessary to save the audio. It is more to see that the right Audio/Video codec has been detected.
