Would asymmetric routing be a problem if the machines exist on the same subnet? I have two switches uplinked with fiber and the server does only has one NIC???

On WAN connections - up to about 1% of your traffic being out of order
is not unusual. More than that is often indicative of asymmetric
routing or some kind of problem.

Sometimes a traceroute can reveal asymmetric routing. Some carriers are
definitely better than others when it comes to this too.
