rdesktop is a client and runs on every brand of *nix I've tried. That
includes Linux, AIX, HP-UX and Solaris.
All Windows versions from 2000 onward can run Remote Desktop server.
Server versions allow two sessions without a license. XP (Professional
ar least) allows one.
NT requires a licensed copy of Terminal Server.
Of course you could use VNC instead.
