I have compiled wireshark on raspberry pi a couple of years ago, and I fixed a couple of issues in the master. I'd suggest you to try to compile the master if
1) you are used to compile it
2) you can open bugs on bugzilla and test fixes back

According to http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/dists/wheezy/main/binary-armhf/Packages the wireshark version shipped with raspbian is 1.12. Don't install it. It's very very old and unsupported. I don't think other arm binaries are released. Then I guess your best bet is compiling, unless I overlooked something.

Many thanks for your answer and for the quality of your system.
