Wireshark-dev: [Wireshark-dev] Wireshark fails to run on Mac OS X (10.6.8) (installed from bina

I have a Mac with all updates installed.

Wireshark 1.6 installed successfully from the install package for 10.6, however it fails to run!  It produces a crash report (enclosed).

There is nothing in the documentation that indicates that I need anything else installed, nor is there anything specific about system requirements for Macs, however I have installed X11 and Xcode from the original install discs for my system.

Is there something in the documentation I have missed?  It seems that the binary package is not suitable for a 10.6 system!

I have even tried the 1.4.7 installer with the same result, (ie, requiring a newer version of the PNG library than exists on my system), so it seems that Wireshark is built for a future version of MacOS?

Any help gratefully received...

Mark
