OK, now I understand the reasoning better.
>From what I've seen in the similar case where people need to maintain multiple
web browser versions for testing, keeping multiple folders with different
portable versions seems to be the typical approach. For everyone else,
assuming updates sometimes contain security patches, it's probably best to
ensure old vulnerable versions are removed.
Alternatively, the wording in the installer could be changed to explain that
much better, such as "Would you like to install this version alongside the
already installed version?", or something similar. As it is, without that
context, it really just leaves you hanging with no idea what is the correct
answer.
