The astonishing thing is that 8at least on MacOS) a workaround to this is as
simple as a perl wrapper around a bash script.
Sure thing, you'll see multiple icons on the dock, but you can live with it.
If you want the workaround (actually a Platypus wrapper around a single line
bash script), feel free to poke me.
However, I really think that the devs should consider shipping this
"workaround" as a native implementation.
