  I installed Wireshark-win32-1.99.3-32-g6f22eb6.exe downloaded from
https://www.wireshark.org/download/automated/win32/. The open dialogue still
doesn't popup for wireshark QT, but not any issue for wireshark GTK. So at
least my compilation environment(MSVC2010EE + QT5.4.0) doesn't have issue.     
Maybe it is still related to some kind of exiting configurations, just as
preference issue before. When I delete all the files under %APPDATA%\Wireshark
as suggested, the Edit -> preferences can be opened.
