Sure thing, committing the translated version is rather what KDE does, e.g.

With the screenshot, we did think about packaging the source screenshot with
the upstream code and in the binary package, but we disregarded this as the
size of 5x1Mb screenshots would be typically larger than all the other binary
and common code for the application. The way we solve this in GNOME is have a
different URL in each of the branches, so that if we change the UI then the
user seems the right screenshot for the version, e.g.
